Ian Masson’s Specialties and options for therapy

Transformative Therapy Integrated with the Catholic Faith

One of the primary predictors of success in therapy is the client-clinician relationship, or therapeutic alliance. Therefore, many of the interventions I use seek to build stronger relationships both internally and in family/social relationships.

Play Therapy

I am certified in Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT). CCPT is an in person service and are now available at a physical office in Culpeper, VA.

For more information about CCPT, click here.

Filial family therapy

I am certified in Filial Family Therapy (FFT).

For more information about FFT, click here.

Eye movement desensitization and REPROCESSING (EMDR)

I am trained through Green Cross in Level 2 EMDR.

For more information about this training through Green Cross, click here.

Couples and family Counseling: Relationship Enhancement Therapy®

I have a certificate and I am trained in using Relationship Enhancement Therapy® (RE). I have been using RE with couples for over 10 years.

  • Affordability: These sessions are offered at a reduced rate, making care highly accessible.

  • More Attention: Interns maintain smaller client loads, allowing them to dedicate significant time and energy to your specific goals.

  • Current Methods: Interns bring the latest psychological research and evidence-based tools straight from their university programs.

  • Supervision: During therapy with an intern, your care is overseen by a fully licensed clinician. The intern meets weekly with this supervisor to review treatment plans and clinical progress. This structure ensures you benefit from the combined insights of two professionals.

Why Therapy with an intern is beneficial?
